My name is Cookie. I’d like to ask if you’ve ever been gripped by fear that’s so debilitating that you can’t function as a human being? I share my story of this type of fear which I lived my entire life battling. I am 65 years old. Much of my life was spent creating ways to cope. I lived life afraid. Afraid to make choices. Afraid that I was not liked…afraid that no one would or could love me. I believed that there was no hope for me. Fear drove me seek comfort in a “mental” fairy tale where I could pretend that my life was ok. However, I knew that it…that I was not “ok.” Thankfully, I grew up with a mother that taught me about God. I decided to try praying to see if God would pay me any attention. I kept praying remembering what my mother had taught me…”to hold on to God’s unchanging hand” …no matter what you are experiencing in life. It didn’t happen overnight, but I noticed change in how I felt and thought. I began to look in the mirror and appreciate what I saw. I kept praying and more changes happened. Fear loosened its grip. For the first time in my life, I believed that I could be loved. God answered my cry for help. One day it hit me that He really loved me. This was life-changing for me. Today, I can say that I am loved. I can say that His love enabled me to begin a journey to freedom…to no more fear. If you suffer or struggle with this, I can say if He did it for me, I know that He will do it for you. Just seek Him. Trust Him. God loves you."
